9:00 am: Ninos Pollinator Garden

April 11, 2021

The pollinator garden at Ninos Parkway is in need of some work!  The NGAC has set up a recurring monthly work day at the garden on the second Sunday of each month from 9:00 - 10:00 am.  Please contact Angela Laws (angela.laws@xerces.org) if you plan to come so that we can make sure there will be a safe distance from one another.  We'll be wearing masks.  To start, we'll mostly be weeding and looking at pollinators while we're at it.

8:00 am: Ninos Community Garden Clean-Up

April 24, 2021

Volunteers are needed for a cleanup-work party at the Ninos Community Garden, located in South Natomas at Northfield Drive and Ninos Parkway, on Saturday April 24, 2021 from 8:00 to 11:00.  We will be clearing weeds from the garden plots and on the walkways.  If you have been unaware of this wonderful community garden, this would be a good opportunity to check it out!

Dress for sun and bring gloves, water, and basic hand weeding tools. If you have a flat shovel, rake, hula hoe, or broom, please bring them if you can.

We will be wearing masks and working at a safe distance from one another. Please contact, Nancy Kapellas, to let us know you are coming. You can park on the access road at the end of the cul-de-sac of Northfield.

In the Natomas Garden & Arts continuing efforts to connect and enrich our communities through gardening and the arts, NGAC media director, Teresa, has reached out to Bruce Ritter of the Sacramento Botanical Garden organization. Bruce has agreed to co-host a monthly gardening advice, tips, chat zoom meeting with Teresa on the last Saturday of each month. The format will be loosely structured around a seasonal topic. Questions from zoom attendees will be encouraged, answered and recorded for the NGAC YouTube Channel. Due to the co-hosts preference for puns, this monthly meeting will be called, “Can You Dig It?”
